A child stained with mud as black as the deepest pit in hell.
Why must they suffer because of their nations instability,
Why must they continue after the floods, the lose as though
nothing has occured?
His eyes look to you for answers, for promise, for the smallest sparkle
of hope you may bare, only to have his quest end in vain.
To you it may seem he's lost everything.
His home, his arm, maybe even his family but through his tearstained
eyes you can tell he's still just happy to be alive,to grow,to survive.
Maybe it is inhumane, maybe it is so wrong to think like that, but maybe
you're the one looking at it wrong, maybe you're the only one
who believes in him besides himself.
Even though he's the only a child, perhaps the only survivor of this natural
disaster,he still has a warm smile on his face, just for you.
Why?Why do things like this happen, why can't he just see his mother one more time, his father.
Why can't he just play at the ocean,in the sand, instead of the ruins of his neighbors house that now scatter it.
His eyes close for the last time as his heart and breathe ceases.
His smile fades away from his tiny face, his tears stop sheading.
He will never see his mother again, nor his father, his brothers,or sisters.
He will never know if they survive.
He will never play with his friends or chase the birds away from his house.
And the child, the boy who lost everything, died with a smile on his face, his last sight was you, crying over his body.
